Youth Mobility Scheme

This visa allows individuals aged 18 to 30 or 35, depending on their nationality, to live and work in the UK for up to 24 months.

    Your application must be made at least 6 months before you plan to travel to the UK

    If you are from Hong Kong or Taiwan you must first be selected in a ballot

Conditions

    You are allowed to study

    For some courses you will need to obtain an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate

    You can work in most jobs, including self-employment

    If you are self-employed, you must not have employees, your premises must be rented and your equipment cannot exceed 5,000 GBP

    You cannot work as a professional sportsperson

    You cannot include family members in the application

    You will not have access to public funds

    If you are from Canada, Australia or New Zealand, after 24 months, you can extend your stay up to an additional 12 months

Application Process

    Your application must be completed online

    You require a valid passport or identity document

    Your identity document must prove who you are and show your nationality. An identity check will be completed through a visa application centre, in person, or via the UK Immigration: ID Check application

    You require a bank statement showing that you have savings mentioned in the Costs section

    If you’re from Andorra, Iceland, Uruguay, you must provide a certificate of criminal records

    If you’re from San Marino, you must provide a letter from the Directorate of Political and Diplomatic Affairs in San Marino, confirming that you are suitable for the Youth Mobility Scheme

    A decision is typically made within 3 weeks of application submission
